The word grace appears (41) times in the Old Testament and (122) times in the New Testament. Amazing that we find the term is used three times as often in the New Testament. Why? Could it be because the O.T. emphasizes the law in terms of relationship? Where as, the N.T. emphasizes grace.
" For the law was given through Moses,
but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."(Jn.1:17)
but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."(Jn.1:17)
Jesus said, " Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill." (Matt. 5:17)
" For by grace have you been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God."(Eph.2:8)
Quintessentially speaking, our relationship with God will never be defined in terms of a legalistic pursuit. There is nothing I can do that would encourage God to love me more. The Scriptures declare, “ God is love” and this too is a reflection of grace.
